Karl went south and walked out on his hometown He said it was nowhere, he’d find a new job and stay there Karl went south like he’d fade if he stayed here It scared him, he felt claustrophobic and needed some air Something affected him down in the desert Karl went south with a sigh of relief Said he’d be happy with anything different at all Karl went south but he went through the desert A Mexican influence followed him home in the fall Karl came back but he isn’t the same He came very quietly, no one was very surprised Karl came back and he works and he smiles But if you look closely there’s still something scared in his eyes

Disney Girl 04:46
We both know the moonlight’s just blue filters on the daylight But we don’t go south anymore cause backroads echo phantom saws You are my disney girl, too many fingers for your world We should go in white, top down, see quiet streets in tiny towns Love in swamp-cooled Bates motels, your tailfin glasses, scarves as well You are my disney girl, too many fingers for your world
3.
Soundtrack 04:49
I want so many moods and I want so many more Cars and tape decks carve a tunnel between my worlds Windshields are like TV screens, I’m not involved at all My entertainment takes me everywhere nowhere at all My soundtrack tells me what to think of what I see Interpretation by the music, not by me I don’t point myself anywhere I can’t turn away I’m only going places, I never mean to stay She throws firebombs on the highway Glass splashing and bushes burning On both sides so far away at night In the rear view watching twin red lights She’s not an insect, I just hear that humming in my mind Not an insect not her eyes
4.
Lithium 03:05
You call and all I do is fall until you call again You get so happy when it rains, I wish you wouldn’t change I’m not proud how I drag you down Your men from Petersburg and Prague, they seem to have you scared You shouldn’t be running to the corner just because I’m there I need lithium and you, you make me feel the same Some reaction in my blood puts bubbles in my brain

It crashed and burned about 1912 A real big fucker about a mile long Rolled over houses underneath the turn It killed the gramma of my perfect one I know it is because of this that she was never born I saw a picture 1939 A little girl with a face like mine The train behind her hand an open door She was the mother of my perfect one And it is because of this that she was never born So many tombstones by the railroad line Say “This lady left not a soul behind” Wait at the station, I don’t wait for long Could’ve been a death train about 12 miles long Stacked full of grammas for my perfect one I don’t know what happened but she was never born

If it seems you’re gonna fall You’ve got 3 days to wander through You got 3 pits of burning fire You’ve got 3 men on your bed so share your beer and cigarettes And the window by your side - religion, drugs or suicide Three-time hospital bed, three lives you could have led Three sixes on your head, three eyes and one is red And I never found religion, I never found the perfect drug I tried and tried to use the razor to show myself a cut above I tried and tried to use the raayzerrr...

Eleven 02:24
It’s always disappointment coming down the hallway oh oh oh Wish I could start again but everyone’s saying oh oh oh oh oh It seems like failed assassins leave home a dozen times, always a dozen I’ve overreached my mind, Dolores finds me crying oh oh oh oh I start to feel the strain, I rise and flex my evil brain oh oh It seems like failed assassins leave home a dozen times...

Romance interrupt my atomic dream Imagine you awake with me It’s just lightning, you’ll see it rain Before thunder can I have you again I pictured something clean and dry I saw no need to purify In this sweaty night some dry heat May be a good thing howling in the street It won’t be no lovers who condemn The perfect heat that fuses them I pictured something clean and dry I saw no need to purify
9.
Not like a passion, not like the jism trail Not like those young boys out looking for thrills No yellow bar rooms, no girls at all Just old men losing time and looking for gold Razorback mule eating gourds off the vine It looks so lonely out behind the county line Wind rattles dry fruit chewed in the night Next morning mule found laid on his side Then they’ll be walking and what will they do? Their tools rust as they nibble on the mule They got no gold for their final days So those old men jump some poor young boy’s claim He sang “I got passion, I got my jism trail, I’m just a young boy, it ain’t no big deal.” The real west - pity the old Run out of time and looking for gold.

The axis buried is a pivot in your head Around which buried things revolve that most people leave unsaid And it’s probably a good idea cause things could happen in your town And the police come by coincidence and find it written down The axis calls and sometimes I repeat the things it says to me I remember one time I read about A killer who just couldn’t get off without Certain evil preparations; the detectives searched his loft, Found a portrait in red ink of a girl with her dress off The axis calls... Sometimes I walk alone in the fog Wondering if I’d be seen by an old man and his dog And maybe that same night, somewhere in the town, The worst thing in the world occurred and police track me down
